Daisy
In late spring of 2022, we said goodbye to its eldest herd member Daisy.
This incredible donkey arrived 10 years ago from a lifetime of living tied to a tree. Within weeks she had adjusted her crown and smoothed out her gown and became the ongoing and undisputed queen of the sanctuary. Daisy innately new when someone needed comforting she also knew when someone needed to understand the meaning of ‘this is my space and that is yours’. When Benny the donkey arrived two years after her, we knew immediately that he was never leaving as Daisy informed us he was hers.
When we began doing equine-assisted coaching and therapy, she was the constant. She helped participants find their breath and their center and their quiet place. Just like her. She comforted the disturbed and more often than not-disturbed the comfortable. She was a master therapist.
In March our sweet girl started having subtle health changes and she informed us that it would let us know when she was ready to shed this body. Her message to us was loud and clear yesterday morning so we honored her wishes and after 40 years wearing her long ears and invisible crown, she flew away out of that suit to become a precious part of ‘all that is’.
We miss you already D Diddy, but see you Sparkle in every last thing you touched.
